You all know how much HP and those rascals like to soak us for those expensive little inkjet cartridges. :-(

Does anyone know of a good website (or vendor) that sells refill cartridges with good quality? There was a website mentioned to me by someone and i have forgotten it. TIA.

As has been stated here many times before, it makes absolutely no sense to refill inkjet cartridges.

See Shelly\'s reply to this question once before and also my reply on a similar topic here for some more info.

Basically, the reason HP replaces the nozzles with each filling is because they wear as ink is forced through them. Worn nozzles equals increased ink flow (consumption), which in turn equals poor print quality and higher ink costs (more frequent ink exhaustion). In addition, the worn nozzles can allow ink leakage, which will damage the printer. For a gross example of the wearing effect of flowing liquids, just think of the Grand Canyon... :)

The ink quality is not likely to be anywhere near OEM quality, meaning that it will likely either dry out in the tanks and nozzles, or else smear on the paper (drying too slowly). Ink drying in the nozzles leads to additional ink usage in the cleaning process as well, which is great for the folks selling the refill ink -- they get to sell you that much more!

Wal-Mart. But I agree that they're not worth it. Sometimes a mess and the print quality just isn't good afterwards.

has anyone ever used products from this company? I am interested in the remanufactured cartridges, no refill kits. Thanks.

I have refilled cartridges with great success although only normally get about 3 refillings. It is a very clean and quick operation. In fact I have a Canon black cartridge I must have refilled about a dozen times and it still works well.
I have for a very long time used compatible cartridges for my epson and I can get 2 colour and 2 black for about £8, but I am talking of an english companyThe compatibles are every bit as good as the originals with no problems. I don't refill as much these days as the compatibles are so cheap.

Best bang for the buck is Stratitec InkJet Refill kit from Sam's Club. I use it on my HP PSC-500 with good results...getting 4 - 6 refills per cartridge. And it's the easiest, no mess - no fuss, kit that I have seen.

However for real "keepers" I always use HP ink.

HP DeskJet printers are so cheap (price-wise) that it's no financial catastrophe if you smoke one. Three ink cartridges cost more than the printer. Go for it!! Let us know how you fare.

Normally, I wouldn't like to argue with Chris, but this time he isn't correct in taking such a strong stand.

I tried ink jet refills couple of years ago and had a mess too.

Nevertheless, times change and a company is out there now providing excellent ink and refill techniques. I've been refilling now for some time and can get three to four refills a cartridge before having to buy a new cartridge.

Yes, they do fail after a few refills, as Shelly said. Right now I'm on my fourth refill, both color and black, with my new 5550 HP. You can get the "Universal" brand kit and photo quality printouts on glossy paper or regular paper.

I would encourage any of you that have had the same bad luck I did earlier to try these out.......
