"Anyone have any experience on E- Bay?"

Few years ago i created an account on e- bay cuz i wanted to buy a used item.

Just earlier 2nite i logged back in cuz i have a car part I'd like to get rid of. I proceeded to log in and update my account. The part where i got confused is where it asked for my credit card/billing information. I even read the part where it said they would not charge me anything to be a seller.

Yet when i updated all necessary info, i clicked on 'Next' button and i was immediately taken to a page where it asked me enter all the credit card number AGAIN!

Does anyone know if you have to really pay a fee to sell something on e-bay??? I'm really confused here.

Yes, you pay a small commission to eBay when you sell something. Details are available on the site.

Why would they make you enter your card number a second time?

In addition to paying a small listing fee, you are also charged a final value fee. The final value fee is a certain percentage that they take based on what the item actually sold for

Jenn in light of your comment, i think i might not sell the item after all. All that for a item that might fetch $35 bucks or so? fuggitabout it...

If anyone is interested in buying a rear light assembly for a '88-89 Honda Accord, please PM or e-mail me. I'd like to get it off my hands. TYVM.

The charges are proportional to the price of the item, and not prohibitive. People sell things for a dollar or less on eBay all the time.

They have also started requesting CC details from sellers as a way of reducing fraud.

#10. "Paypal worry?"
In response to smellystudent (Reply # 9)

Every once in a while, my Sygate firewall alerts me to the fact that first IE6 and then Outlook Express are trying to connect with Paypal - a service which I never have used.

Is this something that I should worry about?

PS I always block the request!!
